Reflection : An Alternative Service, 9:20 on Sunday mornings! At 9:20 on Sunday mornings, Presbyterian Church of the Covenant hosts something new in the category of Sunday morning church services. Not traditional, and not contemporary, the gathering is more of a weekly workshop in spirituality and "soulful living." We are hoping to help people "draw near to God," "seek the holy," experience the reality of The Mystery which is within us and beyond us, and respond to that experience in ways that enhance life.
The music is likely to sound more secular than sacred. With a range from acoustic to jazz, from blue grass to blues, and different musicians each week, the music underscores the sacred in the secular, and emphasizes the connections with God which exist in the ordinary interchanges of our daily routines.
A pastoral reflection, guided meditation, an opportunity for congregational response, silence and music are the things you will find. There will be no liturgy, no creeds, or confessions of faith, and no offering--though a basket at the entrance will be available for contributions.
Casual dress, an atmosphere that is "inclusive and open-minded," and comfortable with questions and doubt, lend themselves to a Sunday morning experience that will likely become "home for your soul."
Gather with us at 9:20 on Sunday mornings for a worshipful alternative to both traditional and contemporary approaches. We hope it's just what you are looking for.
