Pastor's Corner

Jim Dollar is originally from Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he graduated from high school and from Northwestern State University. He is an alumnus of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and held pastorates in Louisiana and Mississippi before coming to the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in 1997.

Jim and his wife Judy are the parents of three daughters, and have four granddaughters. Jim and Judy enjoy traveling, music, and baseball, and look forward to long walks in the cool of the day.

Images to Stir the Soul

Julia Ross Strope is our Associate Minister. She comes to Church of the Covenant from Abington Presbyterian Church in Abington, Pennsylvania. Her undergraduate degree is from Houghton College, Houghton, New York. She received the Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School, and her Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.

Her doctoral thesis, Sacrotherappy: Healing Through the Visual and Tactual Arts, explored using the arts as ways to experience and articulate adventure with the Holy. Julie was ordained in 1981 at University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill while serving as Associate Minister at Binkley Baptist Church.

Besides pastoral work, she is an educator and counselor. She will be participating in all aspects of Life Together at Church of the Covenant. Julie's office is room @209, and she is at work Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
